Looking ahead at the Patriots Wide Receivers, Tight End and Full Back Positions.

AJ Brown looks to shine in New England

These positions will be a major focus of the Patriots Summer Camp this year. Who will make the roster, and how many players will make the team out of Summer Camp? Who will offensive coordinator keep at the wide receiver position. How many tight ends will make the team and who will be released? In this article we will examine these options at both the wide receiver position as well as the tight end position.

Patriots Wide Receivers (12)

AJ Brown after much speculation he would be traded to the Patriots he is now in the house and ready to return to form. The Patriots need the wide receiver to put up solid numbers this season and, in my opinion, a 1,000-yard 10 touchdown season is a must.

Romeo Doubs was one of the first Free Agents the team signed and is being counted on to be the team's wide receiver 2. Doubs comes from the Green Bay Packers and brings elite route running skills as well as speed the team desperately needs. Doubs will be heavily counted on to help stretch the field and improve field position for the offense this season.

Mack Hollins was one of the key offseason additions last year and was vital in the Patriots success on and off the field for the team. Hollins has the size and aggressiveness on the outside to make contested catches and has quarterback Drake Mayes confidence when he throws to him. The Patriots will count on him this season to be a key piece on the offense leading to success on the field.

Kyle Williams was drafted in the 3rd round last year with the 69th overall selection out of Washington State. He has blazing fast speed and can stretch the field with his explosiveness on the outside. Last season he showed flashes of success with ten receptions for 209 yards with three touchdowns. Drake Maye and the Patriots need Williams to break out and be dominant on the outside this season and be wide receiver 3 or 4 for the team this season.

Kayshon Boutte is entering his fourth year with the team and could be a solid piece to the wide receiver room this season. However there has been a lot of speculation he would be traded but, in my opinion, this would be a big mistake from the team.

DeMario Douglas is another wide receiver who in the past has shown flashes of speed and playmaking ability however he doesn't seem to fit this current offensive plans. In my opinion Douglas is a trade candidate for another need on the team especially with the logjam in the wide receiver room.

Efton Chism III showed flashes in both the wide receiver room and kick returns last season. Chism was the camp talk last year as he signed with the team as an undrafted free agent out of college and made the final 53-man roster cut out of camp. He has an uphill battle to make the team but if the team keeps 6 wide receivers, he should be a lock to make the team.

I close out the Wide Receiver room with the Patriots keeping between five and six wide receivers. The following young players all of which could surprise but all should be practice squad candidates. Jeremiah Webb, Nick DeGennaro, Jimmy Kibble, Cameron Dorner, an undrafted free agent star Kyle Dixon.

Rookie TE Eli Raridon looks to catch on quick

Patriots Tight Ends (5)

Hunter Henry is entering his Eleventh season in the NFL and has been a staple at his position with the Patriots. He has been durable and reliable at tight end for the team. Henry has great chemistry with quarterback Drake Maye as he is his go to guy in times of trouble. The Patriots are counting on a big season from the Tight End this season with the loss of newly acquired TE Julian Hill to a season ending injury.

Eli Raridon is and intriguing tight end with size and catch radius. The team drafted Eli in the third round with the 95th position in this year's draft to be the future starter at Tight End for the team replacing Hunter Henry. He will also be counted on this year to play a major role as a rookie on the offense and make plays in the red zone using his size and wingspan to score touchdowns.

CJ Dippre was also an undrafted player coming out of college last season who shined in camp and was on track to make the 53-man roster until he suffered a season ending injury. Dippre should push for a spot on the roster due to the lack of depth at Tight End.

Jack Westover is entering his third year in the league who also played some fullback last season with the team and could be asked to do that this season as well.

Tanner Arkin is also an intriguing prospect who came to the team as an undrafted Tight End out of Illinois. Arkin showed play making ability scoring in the redzone and blocking in college. He has size at 6'4' and 262 to develop into the third or fourth Tight End on the roster. I think Arkin will surprise in camp and make the 53-man roster this season.

To sum up the Tight End spot on the team I can see the Patriots keeping four Tight Ends.

Patriots Fullback (2)

Reggie Gilliam was a key addition to the team this offseason from the Bills and is being counted on to be a beast blocking in the run game. Gilliam can run with power and catch the ball out of the backfield adding to his game.

Brock Lampe is another young player who will come to camp and compete for a roster spot but will end up as a practice squad candidate as I see the team only keeping one Fullback on the roster this season.
