Breaking down the Quarterbacks and Running Backs for the 2026 Patriots

Heading into Summer Camp which begins on July 25 for the full team the Patriots have many hard choices when it comes down each position on the roster. Having said that the team will have hard fought battles at many key positions this year for starters and quality backups. So, in this article we will start our deep dive into the quarterbacks and running backs currently on the Patriots roster.

Drake Maye should thrive in 2026 with his revamped offense

Starter Drake Maye should have another solid year with the additions of both the wide receivers and upgrades on the offensive line.

Back up Tommy DeVito whom they claimed off waivers last season from the NY Giants. He didn't see action last season but should be the backup to Maye as he enters his 4th season in the league.

Behren Morton is a Rookie drafted in this year's draft with the 234th pick in the Seventh Round. Moton comes with a strong arm out of college with decent size at quarterback. I see the Patriots keeping 2 quarterbacks this season with the team trying to stash Morton on the Practice squad.

Rhamondre Stevenson looks to dominate in 2026

Rhamondre Stevenson is entering his sixth season as running back with the Patriots. Last season he had only 603 yards with 7 touchdowns and battled fumble issues. For the Patriots to be successful he needs to improve his turnover issues and reach 1,000 yards rushing while adding to touchdowns as well.

TreyVeyon Henderson enters year two with the team and looks to expand his role on the offense. Last season he displayed his speed and athleticism and needs to continue to build on his rookie season this year as he will be second on the depth chart.

Terrell Jennings is entering year three with the team and has shown he can play in the NFL and be a serviceable back in the league. Before getting hurt last year he was signed to the active roster off the practice squad and will compete for a spot on the roster.

Lan Larison is another young running back competing for a roster spot entering his second year. Larison had a solid camp last year and was pushing to make the roster before getting hurt and landing on the season ending injury list. I see Larison battling for a spot between running back three and four but could end up on the Practice Squad.

Jam Miller a rookie running back out of Alabama the team drafted with the 245th pick in the 7th round of this year's draft is a dynamic power back who can catch the ball out of the backfield. I see Miller making the roster as running back three or four and add to a young running back room.

Myles Montgomery is an intriguing running back out of Central Florida who signed one of the highest undrafted contracts in the franchise's history. His is a smaller quicker back who will surprise this summer. He catches the ball well and is explosive getting to the 2nth levels of the field. Myles will have a great chance to make the roster this summer.

In summary I believe the Patriots will keep four running backs on the roster at final cutdown and try to sneak two on the practice squad.
